From Ballerina To Blogger

Hi! I’m Liz.  When I was four years old, I told my mom that when I grew up, I was going to be a ballerina.  At the age of 18, my dream came true. I had an incredible 13 year-long career performing for thousands of people and traveled the world.

My background in ballet has taught me the importance of hard work, determination, and going after what you want in life. It has also taught me the importance of self-care.  Throughout my career, I went through cycles of not taking care of my body or wellbeing. There were times that I had an unhealthy relationship with food and was very hard on myself. I was striving for perfection and felt let down that I couldn’t be “perfect.”

When I “retired” from dancing professionally, I no longer knew my place in the world.  All I knew was ballet. My whole life had been ballet.  It was a scary transition with an uncertain future.

I knew the only way to get through it was to be kind to myself.

I knew I would put on weight, and that was ok.  I knew that I would feel anxious about the future, and that was ok.  Loving ourselves for who we are is so important for our wellbeing.

That is why I started Daily Ahh

Daily Ahh is that gentle reminder to take a deep breath and enjoy some time for yourself, to be kind to yourself and to love yourself.  The truth is, when we feel good about ourselves, life is just better.
